Terms & Conditions
Last updated July 6, 2026
Please read these Terms carefully before using SemesterMap. They explain your rights and responsibilities, how subscriptions work, and the legal terms that apply to the Service.
1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms & Conditions (the "Terms") form a binding agreement between you and SemesterMap ("SemesterMap", "we", "us", or "our") governing your access to and use of the SemesterMap website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account, subscribing, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority, you must have permission from a parent or guardian.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.
3. The Service
SemesterMap is a digital productivity tool that helps you organize academic deadlines, generate study plans, store course-related files, and receive optional email reminders. The Service is provided on a software-as-a-service basis and is delivered electronically.
We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. We do not guarantee that any particular feature will remain available.
4. Subscriptions & Billing
- SemesterMap offers a free tier and a paid "Pro" subscription billed on a recurring basis (e.g., monthly) through our payment processor, Stripe.
- By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method on each renewal date until you cancel.
- Prices are stated at the point of purchase and may change with notice; changes apply to subsequent billing periods, not the current one.
- You are responsible for any taxes associated with your purchase where applicable.
5. Cancellations, Refunds & Disputes
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time, and your Pro access will continue until the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.
Full details are set out in our Cancellation Policy and our Refund & Dispute Policy, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.
- Upload content you do not have the right to upload, or content that infringes the intellectual property or privacy rights of others.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems; or interfere with or disrupt the Service.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.
- Use automated means to scrape, overload, or abuse the Service.
7. Your Content
You retain ownership of the syllabi, deadlines, notes, files, and other content you submit ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you.
You are solely responsible for Your Content and for keeping your own backups where important. We are not responsible for the accuracy of dates or deadlines you or any import feature generate; always verify against your official course materials.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and content (excluding Your Content), is owned by SemesterMap and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service in accordance with these Terms.
9. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers for payments (Stripe), database and file hosting, and email delivery. Your use of the Service may be subject to those providers' terms. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party providers.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that reminders will always be delivered on time.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SEMESTERMAP WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, MISSED DEADLINES, OR ACADEMIC CONSEQUENCES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SemesterMap and its officers, employees, and partners from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, fail to pay, or use the Service in a way that could harm us or others. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [Your State], United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in [Your State], and you consent to their personal jurisdiction.
Before filing any claim, you agree to first contact us so we can attempt to resolve the matter informally.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you within the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
