Refund & Dispute Policy
Last updated July 6, 2026
SemesterMap is a digital subscription. This policy explains our all-sales-final approach, how cancellation affects billing, and how we handle billing errors, disputes, and chargebacks.
1. Digital Service — All Sales Final
SemesterMap is a digital subscription service that is made available to you immediately upon payment. Because access is granted instantly and the Service is delivered electronically, all payments are final and non-refundable except where a refund is required by applicable law.
This means that subscription fees already charged — including for the current billing period — are not refunded when you cancel.
2. Cancel Anytime to Stop Future Charges
You can cancel your subscription at any time from Account → Plan, or through the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation stops all future renewals. Your Pro access remains active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, after which your account reverts to the Free tier.
We do not provide partial or pro-rated refunds for the unused portion of a billing period.
3. Free Tier — Try Before You Pay
SemesterMap offers a free tier so you can evaluate the core experience before subscribing. We encourage you to use it to confirm the Service meets your needs prior to purchasing Pro.
4. Discretionary Refunds
While our policy is that payments are non-refundable, we may, at our sole and absolute discretion, issue a refund or credit in exceptional circumstances (for example, a verified duplicate charge or a confirmed billing error on our side). Any such refund is made as a goodwill gesture and does not waive this policy or create an obligation to provide refunds in other cases.
5. Billing Errors
If you believe you were charged incorrectly, contact us within 30 days of the charge with your account email and the date and amount of the transaction. We will investigate and, where we confirm an error on our part, correct it promptly.
6. Chargebacks & Payment Disputes
If you have a billing concern, please contact us first — most issues can be resolved quickly and directly. Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card provider without first contacting us is considered a breach of these terms.
We reserve the right to dispute any chargeback we believe to be invalid and to provide our payment processor with records of your account activity, acceptance of these policies, and use of the Service as evidence.
- We may immediately suspend or terminate accounts associated with a chargeback or fraudulent dispute.
- Accounts with an unresolved or lost chargeback may be required to settle the outstanding balance before access is restored.
- Fees we incur as a result of an invalid chargeback may be passed on to you where permitted by law.
7. Failed Payments
If a renewal payment fails, we may retry the charge and will notify you to update your payment method. If payment cannot be collected, your subscription may be downgraded to the Free tier. You remain responsible for any amounts validly owed for the period during which you had Pro access.
8. How to Request Help
To raise a refund request, report a billing error, or resolve a dispute, use our Contact page or email billing@semestermap.app with your account email. We aim to respond within 1–2 business days.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund & Dispute Policy from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your purchase governs that transaction. Material changes will be communicated within the app or by email.
